Dead Sea on the New Seven Wonders of the World List

Do not get astonished if you ever come across the name of the Dead Sea in the list of New Seven Wonders of the World. The Dead Sea is competing with 26 other magnificent natural landmarks like the Grand Canyon, the Great Barrier Reef, the Taj Mahal, the Amazon River, etc to carve its own niche in the 7 New Seven Wonders of the World's list. Although, people from all over the world have selected 261 natural landmarks, 77 entries have gained the maximum votes and the Dead Sea is one among them.
By selecting the Dead Sea in the Seven New Wonders, attempts are made by the authority council to preserve and restore the unique attributes of the Sea and promote tourism to the area. A well-known fact is in the past 30 years, due to many factors, a considerable drop has been noticed in its water level. According to the World Bank Study "Water level of the Dead Sea is shrinking by 3.3 per year".
At this point of time, people are not realizing the unique attributes of the saltwater lake. It is not wrong to say that only a handful of people aware of the axiom that the it's considered as one of the oldest health resorts of the world. So, let's have a quick glance over some of the most astonishing facts about the Dead Sea.
The Sea is known for having the highest salt concentration (32%) by any water body on the Earth. Due to this only, the sea is devoid of animal and plant life and even if a person does not know swimming, then he can actually float in the Sea water easily.

The Sea is a huge reservoir of natural salts, minerals and mud. Minerals like calcium, phosphorus, iodine, sodium, zinc, bromide, magnesium, etc. are found in the Sea water in abundance.
As high as more than 20 minerals are present in the Sea water. These minerals help in cleansing, detoxifying and nourishing the body.
The shore length of the sea is 135 km, surface area is 800 square km and the depth varies from 3 to 397 metres.
By taking bath in the Dead Sea water, various skin disorders like acne, wrinkles, eczema, psoriasis get treated. The Dead Sea bath is also counted as an effective remedy for treating lung problems like asthma, eases arthritis, rheumatic pain, etc.
The Dead Sea mud is highly used in manufacturing of various cosmetic products. Cleansers and toners, moisturizers, facial mud, face wash, eye cream, hair mask, etc.
Although, with every passing day the sea is shrinking, in the Bible it has been written that one day the Sea will regain its life and fill with marine water.
The Dead Sea scrolls were discovered during the 20th century.
Last but not the least; the sea is formed 3 million years ago and geographically famous as "the lowest point of the earth's surface", lying app 400 metres below the sea level.
So after reading so many facts, people would definitely agree that it is no wonder if the Dead-Sea would emerge as a sure-fire winner in the New Seven Wonder's List.
